Wu-Tang’s Ghostface Killah Set To Release Exclusive Music On Bitcoin

On March 18, Dennis David, the renowned American rapper and member of the esteemed hip-hop ensemble Wu-Tang Clan, unveiled his intentions to launch a series of exclusive musical releases under the moniker Bitcoin Ordinals.

This exclusive music will be made available through Ordinal Bots, Rare Scrilla, and NakaPepes platforms.

Ghostface Killah Announced Exclusive Music Release on Bitcoin Ordinals

The American rapper revealed that the music collection will consist of a limited supply of 10,000 copies, and the minting process will be free of charge. Additionally, holders of these copies will be granted CC0 rights to the music.

CC0 rights allow creators, including music artists, to waive their copyright and release their work into the public domain. This grants holders of Ghostface Killah’s exclusive copies the freedom to use, remix, or distribute the exclusive music collection without any restrictions.

This recent announcement indicates the expanding utility of Bitcoin Ordinals, extending beyond the conventional realms of finance.

Bitcoin Ordinals, also known as Bitcoin NFTs, are satoshis (the smallest units of Bitcoin) that are minted and engraved with uploaded music, text, images, or other digital assets or information.

According to data from Dune Analytics, over 60 million engravings (tokenized) have been processed on Bitcoin Ordinals.

This increasing adoption rate suggests that more musicians may tokenize and engrave additional songs to generate additional revenue, while also fostering deeper connections between creators and fans.

In addition to his forthcoming Bitcoin Ordinals debut, Ghostface Killah hinted at a whitelist (WL) for individuals or groups who will receive early access to his collection release.

The rapper now joins the ranks of French Montana, who recently engraved unreleased songs using Bitcoin Ordinals.

Hot-Red Rise of Bitcoin Ordinals Continues: A Blessing or Curse

As the adoption of Bitcoin Ordinals continues to grow, there is a shared concern about its potential impact on the security of the Bitcoin network and the risk of transaction congestion.

Bitcoin developer Dashjr has highlighted that the core Bitcoin code was initially designed to allow users to restrict the size of additional data. However, inscriptions can circumvent these limitations by disguising data as program code.

To address this issue, a patched bug that allows inscriptions to exceed data limits has been resolved in a Bitcoin Knot Update, aiming to alleviate congestion problems.

Nevertheless, Dashjr anticipates that further bug fixes may ultimately impede the expansion of Bitcoin Ordinals inscriptions and influence development within the Bitcoin ecosystem.

The Bitcoin expert has also emphasized that existing inscriptions will persist and remain valid despite any changes or updates.

What we write about

I want to save money. Will cryptocurrency work?

Cryptocurrency is essentially virtual money that operates in a decentralized manner, not through a bank but directly on multiple independent computers.

Every cryptocurrency has two main components: the units of digital exchange called “coins” and the network within which the exchange takes place. These units can be transferred between wallets and exchanged on exchanges. The networks in which these coins exist are called blockchains, which translates to “chains of blocks.”
