The decentralized taxi application DRIFE has now integrated Layer 1 Sui blockchain, enhancing the onboarding process for ride-hailing users with seamless and simplified procedures.
Operating in India and the UAE, DRIFE offers a transparent and equitable ride-hailing experience by leveraging blockchain technology. One of DRIFE’s primary advantages lies in its capacity to eliminate intermediaries, facilitating direct transactions between riders and drivers.
By transitioning to the Sui blockchain, DRIFE will harness its features, notably ZKlogin, to streamline user interactions seamlessly. According to a company announcement, Sui provides an equitable solution for drivers grappling with issues stemming from centralization and high commission rates.
Firdosh Sheikh, the founder of DRIFE, cites Sui’s scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness as pivotal factors in their decision to adopt it.
“This decision perfectly aligns with our objective of establishing a user-friendly interface and reducing entry barriers,” Sheikh commented. “Furthermore, Sui’s scalability and speed are crucial, enabling DRIFE to accommodate rapid expansion and provide real-time services efficiently.”
In February, the Sui network experienced a significant surge in transactions, with Total Value Locked (TVL) reaching $593 million. Sui’s momentum propelled it past other networks like Aptos and Cardano in terms of TVL.
Decentralized Ride-Hailing are the New Era of Transportation
Sheikh envisions that blockchain-powered ride-hailing platforms have the potential to disrupt and revolutionize the industry. This transformation is facilitated by the immutable nature of transactions on the blockchain, which has the potential to rebuild trust between drivers and riders.
“In the ongoing evolution of these technologies, we are likely to witness a complete transformation of the landscape, offering users and drivers a mobility solution that is not only more efficient but also more equitable and sustainable,” she stated in an interview with Bitcoin.com.
“As blockchain solutions continue to advance, they hold the promise of reshaping the industry in ways that are both innovative and sustainable.”
Sheikh further elaborated on the role of blockchain in ride-hailing businesses like DRIFE, emphasizing its potential to enhance profitability and sustainability. By leveraging blockchain technology, operational costs can be reduced, while tokenization and incentive mechanisms can be utilized to reward users for their active participation, ultimately empowering stakeholders, Sheikh concluded.
