Ubisoft, the renowned creator of Assassin’s Creed, is set to release a new series of non-fungible token (NFT) avatars for the popular metaverse game, The Sandbox. Priced at 120 SAND each, players will have the opportunity to acquire these NFT avatars while also having the potential to earn SAND in the process.
The Ethereum scaling network, Polygon, will be launching this exclusive collection featuring 1,866 futuristic, cyberpunk player avatars presented as NFTs. The collection, titled “Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix,” is a limited edition set featuring characters like Rayman, Dolph Laserhawk, and Bullfrog, each available in a 1:1 ratio.
As outlined in the FAQ page, during the Allowlisting stage, each avatar will be priced at 90 SAND. Subsequently, during the Public Sale phase, the cost per avatar will be increased to 120 SAND. This initiative combines the appeal of Ubisoft’s gaming expertise, NFTs, and the metaverse, providing players with a unique opportunity to engage with digital assets and potentially earn rewards in the form of SAND tokens.
As of the current prices, these avatars will be priced at $37 during the Allowlisting stage and $49 during the Public Sale.
During the Allowlist days on November 28 and 29, only registered wallets will have the authorization to mint avatars. Notably, there will be 200 avatars available for free on November 28, distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
To be eligible for the Allow List, users must meet specific criteria based on the NFTs they hold, as outlined in detail on the FAQ page. There are 3,000 spots available on the Allow List, and registration will be open from November 21 through 27. The minting date for the avatars is set for November 29.
Following this, the Public Sale is scheduled to go live on November 30, with the official reveal of the avatars taking place on December 6. This timeline outlines the key dates for interested users to participate in the acquisition of these limited edition NFT avatars.
Earn SAND
The Sandbox website extends an invitation to users to participate in the game as a citizen of Eden, where they have the chance to earn SAND.
Each avatar, designated as playable within The Sandbox metaverse, serves to unlock various features, events, rewards, and exclusive content. The website emphasizes that there are distinctive Play&Earn opportunities specifically designed for Avatar holders. This provides every holder with the chance to earn SAND and/or NFTs through engaging gameplay within the metaverse. The integration of Play&Earn mechanisms adds an extra layer of incentive for users to actively participate and benefit from their involvement in The Sandbox.
In the diverse world of Eden, a multitude of characters awaits collection, ranging from underdogs and cyber-soldiers to TV hosts, rebel hackers, and military psychopaths, as highlighted by the company. Players are encouraged to embark on quests within the Captain Laserhawk Blood Dragon experience, offering the opportunity to earn a share of the 100K SAND pool and partake in exclusive community activations.
Each avatar is meticulously crafted with unique, randomly generated traits, falling into four distinct categories: super rare, rare, uncommon, and common. Adding an innovative touch, avatars in this collection will be available in three different sizes: small, medium, and large—a first for The Sandbox.
After the initial sale concludes, players will have the option to purchase an unlimited number of avatars from other users selling their avatars on the OpenSea marketplace, fostering a dynamic secondary market.
Lastly, holders of Eden Icons will receive an exclusive Eden care package, further enhancing the overall experience for participants in this NFT collection within The Sandbox metaverse.
The Netflix Show
The avatars featured in this NFT collection draw inspiration from the French-American adult animated series “Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix.” Produced by Ubisoft Film & Television, Bobbypills, and Bootleg Universe, the show is a creative amalgamation of elements and characters from various Ubisoft franchises, including “Assassin’s Creed,” “Ghost Recon,” and “Splinter Cell.” The series itself is rooted in the 2013 video game “Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.”
Ubisoft introduced the show in October 2019, and it was subsequently released on Netflix in October 2023. The narrative of the series, and by extension, the avatars, transports users back to the year 1992 as citizens of Eden, promising an original adventure replete with mystery, hacking, and stealth. This collaboration between the gaming giant Ubisoft and the HeyMint platform brings an immersive and nostalgic experience to users within The Sandbox metaverse.
