The fantasy game and marketplace Sorare, centered on non-fungible tokens (NFTs), has unveiled its 3D digital soccer player cards, enriched with augmented reality (AR) features.
For the 2023-24 Sorare Football season, these innovative 3D digital player cards will make their debut throughout the Sorare Football world, as stated by the platform.
The new cards will first be accessible on Sorare’s web and mobile applications, starting with the iOS platform. The platform’s users, referred to as “Managers,” can interact with these cards in a real-world setting using the app.
For each of Europe’s leading leagues, including the Premier League, Bundesliga, LaLiga, and Serie A, Sorare has crafted a unique frame. Details for each league will be revealed in the upcoming weeks.
Marketplace listings for cards showcasing Premier League players will begin on September 13.
The Premier League took to Twitter to share that these “cards will be 3D, engaging, and tangible in the real world.”
‘New Designs for Years to Come’
Sorare aims to blur the lines between tangible and digital fandom by reimagining the tradition of collecting soccer cards.
The card backgrounds have been intentionally crafted by the team to stand out in 3D and exude a radiant appearance, accentuated by vibrant reflections and lighting effects.
A distinct frame connects the card’s front to its back, adding depth to its 3D facet. When combined with the lighting, it manifests a palpable essence, as highlighted in their announcement.
The team conveyed,
“Venturing into 3D design marks a pivotal phase in our card evolution. By infusing depth through the frame, enriched by textures and contours, we’ve laid the foundation for the continual innovation of Sorare’s digital player cards, paving the way for captivating designs in the future.”
The card’s data is bifurcated into two sections: details about the league and season are placed at the top, while player-specific information resides at the bottom.
The platform highlights, “Player photography is a central aspect of the card’s design.” Given that thousands of cards are produced every season, scalability becomes paramount.
As they look ahead, the team is considering experimenting with special edition cards featuring varied photography. However, they underscore that scaling this endeavor presents a complex challenge.
Treasure Hunt Begins
In anticipation of the launch of the 3D digital player cards, Sorare introduced a 3D Card Virtual Treasure Hunt spanning three cities.
According to their blog post, participants are tasked with locating the key to an Ethereum wallet. This key is essentially a master password composed of 12 words.
To access the wallet and subsequently transfer the cards to their personal wallet, contestants must arrange these words in the precise sequence.
The first individual to successfully complete the treasure hunt by October 10 will be awarded the AC Milan prize bundle: an opportunity to fly alongside the team and witness one of its European matches, armed with VIP tickets.
