Solana Saga Phone Fetches $5,000 on eBay Amid BONK Meme Coin Frenzy

Amid the fervor surrounding the BONK meme coin, the Solana Saga phones, initially experiencing lackluster sales, have unexpectedly become stars in the resale market, with one device reportedly selling for a remarkable $5,000 on eBay.

Completed listings indicate that Solana Saga phones, initially priced lower, are now consistently fetching over $2,000 in resale.

The demand peaked on Saturday when two phones were sold for an impressive $5,000 each. On Sunday, another phone commanded a price of $3,361.

Notably, these sales were conducted by sellers who already had the device in their possession, while others are eagerly awaiting the shipment of their phones.

The sudden surge in popularity can be attributed to traders seizing an arbitrage opportunity.

Initially, each purchase of the Saga phone came with a substantial airdrop of 30 million BONK tokens, a popular meme coin on the Solana blockchain.

As the value of BONK soared, surpassing the initial cost of the phone, a craze for Solana Saga phones ensued.

At the time of writing on Monday, the BONK meme coin’s price had surged an impressive 68% in the past seven days and nearly 640% over a 30-day period, trading at $0.00001987.

CoinGecko ranks the coin as number 55 among the most valuable cryptocurrencies.

Aside from gaining access to the BONK airdrop, the Saga phone also comes with additional perks, including a complimentary month of access to Helium Mobile and a free toy.

Furthermore, the phone’s decentralized app (dApp) Store features apps that reward Saga holders with exclusive benefits and rewards, adding to its overall appeal.

What we write about

I want to save money. Will cryptocurrency work?

Cryptocurrency is essentially virtual money that operates in a decentralized manner, not through a bank but directly on multiple independent computers.

Every cryptocurrency has two main components: the units of digital exchange called “coins” and the network within which the exchange takes place. These units can be transferred between wallets and exchanged on exchanges. The networks in which these coins exist are called blockchains, which translates to “chains of blocks.”
