Robinhood, the US online trading platform, has unveiled an exclusive non-fungible token (NFT) giveaway for its Robinhood Wallet users. This giveaway, in collaboration with Notable.art, a platform focusing on fine art that bridges the digital and physical realms, offers users the chance to acquire exclusive digital sketches by renowned American artist Hunt Slonem.
The campaign will feature a series of four NFT giveaways, each occurring once every two weeks and showcasing different artwork by Slonem. These NFTs will be accessible through the Web3 tab in the Robinhood Wallet app on iOS and will be minted on Notable, then delivered directly to users’ wallets.
Additionally, Notable will cover the network fees associated with minting for the first 10,000 giveaway participants. Subsequently, participants will be responsible for any network fees associated with minting, as stated in the announcement shared.
Robinhood Launches Physical Prints For Limited NFTs
The giveaway will feature four NFT mints scheduled for February 27, March 12, March 26, and April 9.
Additionally, participants from the US who collect all four pieces will have the opportunity to purchase a physical print of one of those sketches. These physical prints will be limited to a total of 400 prints, with 100 prints available for each NFT. The prints will be made available from April 23 to May 6 or until they are sold out.
Each NFT is priced at $1,500.
Zain Talyarkhan, CEO of Notable, emphasized that the platform aims to lower the barriers to entry in fine art collecting. By partnering with renowned visual artists, Notable offers unique digital artworks along with 1-of-1 museum-quality prints at accessible price points.
Johann Kerbrat, Crypto General Manager at Robinhood, noted that the company sees an opportunity to enhance access to Web3. He highlighted that Robinhood Wallet is breaking down barriers, making it easier for people to explore new projects or initiatives they might not have otherwise considered.
Fresh Context
Slonem, renowned for his Neo-Expressionist style, is celebrated as a famous colorist. The announcement highlights his “striking fauvist color palette,” often employed to accentuate his enduring fascination with animals and exotic locales.
“Art is a means to explore our lives and transcend our ordinary experiences,” Slonem remarked. Reflecting on his venture into the realm of NFTs, he expressed, “Through my work, I aim to capture not only the vibrancy of nature but also the essence that animates it. The convergence of art, life, and now technology expands my practice beyond traditional means. I eagerly anticipate presenting my work in a fresh context and engaging new audiences in a lively and spirited manner.”
Slonem’s physical artworks typically command prices of tens of thousands of dollars each. His pieces have graced over 350 international exhibitions in prestigious galleries and cultural institutions, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City, USA.
Meanwhile, in February, Robinhood announced that its transactions-based revenues in Q4 2023 had surged by 8% compared to the same quarter the previous year. This growth was largely fueled by a 10% increase in cryptocurrency revenue, totaling $43 million.
