Polygon PoS Now Supported By Amazon Managed Blockchain Access

Amazon Managed Blockchain (AMB) Access has expanded its support to include the Polygon proof-of-stake (PoS) mainnet and the Mumbai testnet, now available in public preview.

AMB is a fully managed service that facilitates access to both public and private blockchains. Polygon, a scaling solution built on the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), is recognized for its increased transaction throughput and lower transaction fees. It is commonly utilized in the development of decentralized applications (dApps) related to non-fungible tokens (NFTs), Web3 games, and various tokenization use cases.

Polygon’s blog post highlights that by incorporating support for Polygon PoS, AMB aims to provide developers with a reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient platform for building Web3 applications.

The developer guide emphasizes that AMB assists users in constructing “resilient Web3 applications on the Polygon blockchain.” Additionally, it offers serverless and instantaneous access to Polygon PoS without any minimum cost. During the public preview, access is provided free of charge, although standard Amazon Web Services (AWS) data transfer charges will apply. This indicates that users can leverage the benefits of AMB for developing on the Polygon blockchain without incurring additional access costs during the public preview period.

Benefits for Developers, Consumer Brands, and Financial Institutions

AMB Access Polygon is designed to accommodate a range of applications, meeting the needs of use cases requiring both repeated and highly-available access, as well as those with intermittent and unpredictable access, according to Polygon.

This access is touted as beneficial for a variety of entities, including consumer brands, institutions, and developers. For consumer brands, AMB Access Polygon can be employed to offer non-fungible tokens (NFTs) through a loyalty system as a way to reward customers.

Financial services institutions can leverage it to power digital asset offerings, utilizing the JSON-RPC application programming interface (API) for tasks such as reading blockchain data and broadcasting users’ signed transactions. This flexibility makes AMB Access Polygon a versatile tool for a broad spectrum of applications within the blockchain space.

Developers can utilize Polygon JSON-RPC APIs through “always-on endpoints,” providing predictable pay-as-you-go pricing. This allows developers to build applications that interact seamlessly with Polygon PoS, offering a reliable and scalable foundation.

For Web3 game developers, the integration of AMB Access Polygon allows for the creation of NFTs within the game. Players can then utilize these NFTs in-game and exchange them on marketplaces built on the Polygon PoS network.

The advantages for developers using AMB Access Polygon include the ability to develop production-grade applications, achieve faster time to market, and benefit from automatic scaling. Additionally, with pay-per-request pricing, developers may experience cost savings of up to 80% in blockchain node spending compared to managing their infrastructure, as claimed by Polygon. This underscores the potential economic benefits for developers leveraging the managed services offered by AMB Access on the Polygon blockchain.

Not The First Polygon-AWS Collaboration

The support of Polygon PoS by AWS through AMB Access is seen as a significant step in simplifying the development of scalable and mainstream applications, according to the post.

AWS continues to expand its enterprise-ready Web3 infrastructure and developer-friendly tools, catering to the needs of businesses aiming to provide fast, seamless, and secure access to applications for both Web3 native and mainstream consumers.

Several projects across various industries have already adopted AMB Access Polygon. These include Magic, a wallet-as-a-service provider, Mystic Moose, an indie game developer studio, RecoChoku, a music distribution-focused company, and Oasis Pro, a global fintech infrastructure provider for real-world assets and digital securities. These examples showcase the diverse applications and industries that can benefit from the streamlined development capabilities provided by AMB Access on the Polygon blockchain.

The collaboration between AWS and Polygon Labs has seen various developments, and this is not the first instance of their partnership. In mid-November, AWS, Polygon Labs, and gaming venture capital firm Animoca Brands announced a strategic collaboration. They introduced the MoonRealm Express Accelerator, designed to support Web3 builders globally in accelerating the development of Web3 products and solutions. This collaboration is facilitated through Animoca Brands’ flagship project, Mocaverse.

The MoonRealm Express Accelerator aims to assist aspiring builders in transforming their concepts into real-world solutions. Now, with the addition of AMB Access Polygon to their collaborative efforts, the partnership continues to strengthen, offering enhanced tools and services for developers working on Web3 applications and solutions.

What we write about

I want to save money. Will cryptocurrency work?

Cryptocurrency is essentially virtual money that operates in a decentralized manner, not through a bank but directly on multiple independent computers.

Every cryptocurrency has two main components: the units of digital exchange called “coins” and the network within which the exchange takes place. These units can be transferred between wallets and exchanged on exchanges. The networks in which these coins exist are called blockchains, which translates to “chains of blocks.”
