Amazon Managed Blockchain (AMB) Access has expanded its support to include the Polygon proof-of-stake (PoS) mainnet and the Mumbai testnet, which are now available in public preview.
AMB serves as a fully managed service that facilitates access to both public and private blockchains. Polygon, recognized for its utilization of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), functions as a scaling solution with notable advantages such as increased transaction throughput and reduced transaction fees. This blockchain technology is frequently employed in the creation of decentralized applications (dapps) focusing on non-fungible tokens (NFTs), Web3 games, and various tokenization use cases.
As mentioned in a blog post by Polygon:
“[AMB] is incorporating support for Polygon PoS to provide developers with a dependable, scalable, and cost-effective framework for constructing Web3 applications.”
The developer guide emphasizes that AMB plays a pivotal role in assisting users in constructing “resilient Web3 applications on the Polygon blockchain.”
Additionally, AMB offers serverless and immediate access to Polygon PoS without imposing any minimum cost during the public preview phase. It’s important to note that while access is free during this preview period, standard Amazon Web Services (AWS) data transfer charges will be applicable.
Benefits for Developers, Consumer Brands, and Financial Institutions
AMB Access Polygon is designed to accommodate a diverse range of applications, addressing needs that span from scenarios requiring frequent and reliable access to those characterized by sporadic and unpredictable access, as highlighted by Polygon.
This versatile access proves advantageous for various entities, including consumer brands, institutions, and developers.
Consumer brands, for instance, can leverage AMB Access Polygon to introduce NFTs as part of a loyalty system, providing a unique way to reward and engage customers.
Financial services institutions can tap into its capabilities to empower digital asset offerings. These offerings may necessitate the use of the JSON-RPC application programming interface (API) for tasks such as reading blockchain data and broadcasting users’ signed transactions.
Lastly, developers have the option to leverage Polygon JSON-RPC APIs via “always-on endpoints,” providing a predictable pay-as-you-go pricing structure for building applications that seamlessly interact with Polygon PoS.
For web3 game developers, this means the ability to craft NFTs that players can utilize within the game or trade on marketplaces operating on Polygon PoS.
AMB Access Polygon extends various advantages to developers, including the ability to create production-grade applications, achieve faster time-to-market, and benefit from automatic scaling capabilities.
Moreover, Polygon asserts that with its pay-per-request pricing model, developers can potentially save up to 80% in blockchain node spending compared to managing their infrastructure independently.
Not The First Polygon-AWS Collaboration
The post highlights that AWS support for Polygon PoS via AMB Access plays a crucial role in simplifying the development of scalable and mainstream applications.
It emphasizes AWS’s continuous efforts to expand its enterprise-ready Web3 infrastructure and developer-friendly tools, catering to the needs of businesses seeking rapid, seamless, and secure access to applications for both Web3 native and mainstream consumers.
Several projects spanning various industries have already adopted AMB Access Polygon. Notable examples include Magic, a wallet-as-a-service provider; Mystic Moose, an indie game developer studio; RecoChoku, a music distribution-focused company; and Oasis Pro, a global fintech infrastructure provider specializing in real-world assets and digital securities.
Nevertheless, this marks not the initial collaboration between the two entities. In mid-November, AWS, Polygon Labs, and gaming venture capital firm Animoca Brands disclosed a strategic partnership. The jointly announced MoonRealm Express Accelerator is designed to provide support to Web3 developers globally, aiding in the acceleration of Web3 products and solutions through Animoca Brands’ flagship project, Mocaverse.
The stated objective of the MoonRealm Express Accelerator is to assist aspiring builders in translating their concepts into tangible real-world solutions, as mentioned in the official announcement. Now, this collaboration sees the inclusion of AMB Access Polygon, further enhancing their joint efforts.
