Nexon, the South Korean gaming company, is gearing up to introduce a web3 rendition of MapleStory on the Avalanche blockchain. This updated version, dubbed MapleStory N, will introduce user-generated content and fresh gameplay elements.
A blog post from Avalanche’s official channel elaborated on the forthcoming MapleStory N, highlighting its innovative feature allowing players to craft and exchange their own in-game creations.
Scheduled for launch in 2024, the initiative seeks to blend Nexon’s gaming proficiency with Avalanche’s blockchain technology, promising an enriched player engagement through enhanced interactive elements.
MapleStory Universe’s Web3 Version
The MapleStory Universe on Avalanche will usher in a new era of user-generated content, a hallmark feature in leading web2 games. With MapleStory N, players will wield the power to construct their own virtual realms and earn rewards for their contributions to the gaming community.
The blog post anticipates that “dedicated Web2 gamers worldwide will enjoy an enriched gaming experience on Avalanche, delving into the realms of Web3 gaming possibilities.”
Avalanche reveals that MapleStory Universe will operate on a dedicated Avalanche Subnet tailored specifically for its ecosystem.
Angela Son, MapleStory Universe’s Partnership Lead, expressed, “Our collaboration with Ava Labs will empower us to establish a robust and comprehensive blockchain ecosystem, facilitating the secure provision of various dApps alongside MapleStory N, thereby boosting our competitive edge.”

Nexon America Accepts Crypto Payments
In June 2023, Nexon America made headlines by unveiling its acceptance of cryptocurrencies for in-game transactions, facilitated by BitPay.
The announcement outlined the array of digital assets now supported, encompassing popular cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Dogecoin (DOGE), alongside stablecoins like Binance USD (BUSD), DAI, and Gemini Dollar (GUSD).
