FIFA, the renowned international governing body for football, has unveiled a new digital collectible collection in its inaugural collaboration with tech firm Modex, introducing ‘FIFA+ Collect.’ This initiative will release a “dual digital collectible” for the FIFA Club World Cup Saudi Arabia 2023, according to the official press release.
The initial drop of 100 digital collectibles is scheduled for release on December 15. These collectibles will showcase some of the rarest items and present an opportunity for collectors to secure tickets for the FIFA World Cup 2026 final, adding an enticing perk to the digital collection.
Modex CEO Francesco Abbate emphasized the excitement surrounding the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, stating, “The FIFA Club World Cup promises to be an exciting 10 days, and with the release of collectibles that can secure actual FIFA match items and FIFA World Cup 26 final access, there’s an added incentive for fans to participate.”
Throughout the FIFA Club World Cup, additional collectibles will be launched on the FIFA+ Collect platform, showcasing significant moments from the tournament. The event, taking place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, commenced recently.
While FIFA initially used Algorand as its official blockchain platform, it has chosen the Polygon network this time for minting its non-fungible tokens (NFTs). A total of 900 digital collectibles will be issued on Polygon on December 19, and these NFTs will also be made available on the OpenSea marketplace, providing a broader reach for fans and collectors.
