The renowned Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) non-fungible token (NFT) collection has ventured into the metaverse of Roblox through the efforts of the metaverse-based “supergroup” Kingship.
Created by Universal Music Group’s 10:22PM, the fictional band Kingship has expanded its presence beyond token-enabled playlists on Spotify to Roblox. This expansion includes the launch of an interactive game titled “Kingship Islands,” where players find themselves on an island paradise after a crash landing and embark on a quest to reunite the band members of Kingship.
The Kingship band incorporates characters inspired by the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection, along with one character derived from the Mutant Ape collection.
In addition to its various features, the Kingship Islands game offers players the opportunity to earn specific in-game items for free during the initial six weeks following its launch.
Kingship has integrated animated avatar accessories utilizing Roblox’s facial animation technology, along with themed emotes that users can purchase through the in-game shop and the Roblox Marketplace.
Owners of a designated NFT called the “Kingship Key Card” enjoy special privileges, including exclusive Roblox badges and access to a “Floating Villa” within the game.
A band of BAYC characters
Conceived in 2021, Kingship operates as a metaverse band, featuring characters inspired by the avatars from the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection.
The creator of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, Yuga Labs, has granted specific rights to NFT holders, allowing them to create and sell derivative projects and products utilizing the distinctive artwork.
The Bored Ape Yacht Club, launched in April 2021, has gained recognition as one of the most popular NFT collections in history.
In 2022, the community associated with the NFT collection introduced their governance token, ApeCoin. Although ApeCoin initially experienced a surge in the market, it has subsequently faced a decline in value.
