5 Italian Serie A teams on the blockchain with Sorare
Sorare’s blockchain-based fantasy football game has five new football teams from the Italian Serie A: Cagliari, Sampdoria, Genoa, Udinese and Hellas Verona.
This brings the number of Italian football clubs to 11 out of the 20 currently playing in Serie A. The five clubs join Inter, Juventus, Lazio, Milan, Napoli and Roma.
In this way, the NFTs of players, i.e. collectible cards that users trade and sell, include the likes of Fabio Quagliarella, João Pedro and Musa Barrow.
Sorare’s decision to add more Serie A teams is due to the fact that Italian users are the ones who spend the most time on the platform (1h35′ per day). Italian users are also among the fastest-growing, second in the ranking, with 63% growth month on month.
Nicolas Julias, CEO of Sorare, explains:
“We’re building a gaming experience fueled by passion where fans can connect with football and a global community. On Sorare, they can truly own the game. We’re proud to have these legendary clubs join Sorare to allow fans globally to connect with their players for the next few years. We’ve been very impressed by the growth of the Italian community of fans in Sorare”.
Football on the Sorare blockchain
Sorare is expanding considerably. It currently has 140 football teams, spanning Europe, the US and Asia. Sorare has created this sort of fantasy football where footballers become collectible cards in the form of NFTs that users can sell and trade and with which they can also challenge each other.
Sorare has brought to blockchain both fantasy football and the trading of cards that used to take place in a physical world. This is all thanks to the technology of Ethereum.
The game has experienced a strong explosion especially in times of pandemic. The CEO concludes:
“Given the current climate due to the covid-19 pandemic, this provides a new opportunity for football teams to create interest when live games have been significantly impacted. It offers football clubs a way to diversify their revenue streams.”
